Going 'Green'? Try the Bamboo Advantage

Bamboo- woody tropical grass having hollow woody stems.

Who would have ever thought that bamboo would be a common material in products? There are tons of products that use bamboo because of how 'green' and all-natural it is. Bath exfoliators are one of these products.

There are four advantages with using bamboo products.

1) Bamboo is a 100% biodegradable textile. As a natural cellulose fiber; it can be biodegraded by soil and sunshine, and the decomposition doesn't cause any pollution to the environment.

2) It's all natural and anit-bacterial.Who would have thought bamboo to be a nautral anti-bacterial fiber.
3) It's recyclable. Since bamboo shoots grow very quickly, bamboo is great to use instead of our precious resources.

4)  It's hypo-allergenic. If you have sensitive skin like me, bamboo textiles are your best choice. Bamboo's organic and natural properties make it non-irritating.

So what does this have to do with Bath & Spa products?

Many of OUR bath brushes, exfoliators, and sponges are made from 100%bamboo.

If you are looking to go 'green', try out our Bamboo Exfoliating Handstrap. It's a great way to slough dead skin cells- leaving your skin renewed, refreshed, and radiant.

Dry Brushing

Recently I sat next to a woman at a dinner party and I could not take my eyes off the skin on her arms, on a cold winter night she was wearing a sleeveless dress while I covered my arms up in a long sleeved turtleneck.  Her skin looked like silk, all glowy and soft. I got up the courage to ask about her beauty regime and she told me she owed her amazing skin to “dry brushing”.   Determined to find out what this was all about and make this my own little secret I did some research.
What a surprise to find out the ancient Greeks and Romans did this.  Asian woman and men have been doing it forever and now in the US and Europe it is hot hot hot! Models and all the glam girls are hopping on this new thing, which remove layers of clogged and dead skin…. the ULTIMATE exfoliation.   So much for a secret.
You begin by buying a long handled brush made of natural bristles.  (nylon and synthetics are too sharp and may scratch your skin).  Look for boar bristles or those made from plants. You should probably begin with a soft brush and as your skin tolerates it move on to something firmer.  Before your bath or shower gently dry brush your entire body using a soft circular motion…from head to toe.  Pay special attention to those really dry spots like elbows, knees, and feet.  It feels wonderful and relaxing- much like a massage.
Rinse off and shower or bathe as usual. You will also find that this method also makes your skin more ready to receive any lotions or oils you may apply after your shower or bath.  Many say it also improves circulation.
Avoid any areas that are sensitive or have broken skin.  If you have any serious skin issues (eczema, psoriasis, or acne) check with you Dr. before you consider if this is right for you.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

"Whether you are in the cold of the Northeast or in the warmth of the south, February signifies a time of love, warmth and friendship. Valentine’s Day gives us an opportunity to reflect on how meaningful our relationships are, and to appreciate those we love. And, there is no better way to show your love than to gift a loved one with a little TLC and pampering."- Sheer Balance

-We could not agree enough! What kind of girl wouldn't mind a foot massage or even a mani/pedi as a Valentine's gift?! Hey- Even a guy would like that!

These are our 5 top AT HOME inexpensive spa gifts for your love ones this Valentine's day!

1)- Give your love one a personal back massage. Start off with some massaging oil- buy from the store or make our own. Use a Wood Hand Massager to massage kinks and tight spots on the back.

2)- Treat someone to an inexpensive manicure. A Personal Manicure Kit would be very handy. Clip nails- then shape with a nail file. Use a cuticle pusher and clip away hang nails. Follow up by using a hand lotion.

3)- Relax with your loved one and take a romantic spa bath. Filled the tub up with warm water. Add your favorite bath salts, bubble bath, or bath oils. Light some candles and play soft music. To be more comfortable- use a Bath Pillow to support and rest your head.

4)- If you're single this Valentine's day- don't forget about YOURSELF! Treat yourself to a mini-massage. Use a Cellulite Bath Brush to scrub away dead skin, massage, and fight cellulite on your hips, thighs, and buns.

5)- Last but not least- Give yourself a spa pedicure. Use a Pumice Brush to fight cracked, dry, and callused feet. Then clip toe nails then use a nail file to shape nails. Don't forget to moisturize! Use Moisturizing Socks to help keep your feet feeling soft and smooth all the time.
